Enrichment Classes

This year we will have an additional enrichment day to supplement the classes being offered during CLASS Day. These classes will meet on the 4th Wednesday of each month at a church in Bolingbrook, with classes from 1:00pm to 2:25pm and from 2:30pm until 4:00pm. We will meet the following dates: September 25, October 23, November 20, no December, January 22, February 26, March 26, April 23, and May 28.

Yearbook and Photography
In this class students in 5th grade and up will learn important fundamentals of journalistic photography, elements of layout design, using design software, and the editing process. The end result of the students’ hard work will be the 2024-2025 HEART yearbook. There is no fee for this class, but there are hardware requirements in order to take and edit pictures. Please see syllabus for specific details.
 
This class will be offered from 1pm to 2:25pm on the 4th Wednesday of each month (no class December).
PLEASE NOTE: Students in yearbook will also need to attend after the once a month Class Day on the second Wednesday of the month in order to participate.

Lego Club
Lego club is open to students of all ages. Each session, the children in will be given a theme to build. Each month has a different theme. Once build time has expired, each student or team will be expected to give a short oral presentation on their build and answer any questions the instructor or other students may have. There is a fee of $10 for the year for this club to help purchase additional Lego pieces. Please see the syllabus for additional details.

Art Appreciation
In this class students in K-3rd will be introduced to a number of historically significant artists from around the world. We will learn how to look at art in the context of the artist’s life and environment and practice some of the techniques and styles these artists developed. Lastly, students will practice different styles of painting, collage, and interactive art. There is a fee of $35 per student for this class. Please see the syllabus for additional information.

World Culture
​
​The purpose of this course is to educate students in grades 4th-12th on the diversity of the cultures in the world around them. They will explore the geographical, political, religious, and natural differences that have shaped and continue to shape various people groups around the world resulting in differences in culture. They will listen to music, taste food, experience ceremonial dancing, feel clothing, and see artifacts from cultures around the world. There is a fee of $40 per student for this class. Please see the syllabus for additional information.

Social Activities

We know the value of having a community for the kids to connect in! Each month there are social events to allow the kids to hang out, develop friendships, and have fun. See the grade range your child falls in for the opportunities they can participate in.

Social Group PreK-2nd Grade

Monthly Playdates will be planned for the 2024-2025 school year on the first Friday of every month. We also plan to have a Valentine's Day Party , Christmas Party, and Easter Egg Hunt for our Pre-K through 2nd graders!
